The Nineveh, NY sawmill is located in the southern tier of New York along the banks of the Susquehanna River about 20 miles east of Binghamton.
Hardwood logs are sourced from a range of locations throughout the Adirondack, Alleghany and Catskill regions.
A summary of the process and equi,ent used in the Nineveh mill is as follows:
- Pressure washing to remove excess dirt
- Debarking with a HMC Rosser head debarker
- Scanning for metal via an MDI metal detector.
The mill is equipped with a McDonough double cut 5' band saw with Lewis controls set works and a HMC AC 50 4 head block carriage.
The resaws used include a 48" Stenner resaw and a Superharvester horizontal mini resaw.
Automated Edger & End Trimming
To produce lumber with clean square ends, the Nineveh sawmill uses an a PHL E6-42 3 saw edger and a HMC MDS 50 drop saw trimmer.
All species native to the region are sawn in the mill. The main species we saw include Red Oak, Soft Maple, Hard Maple, Ash, Cherry, White Oak, basswood, Birch, Hickory, Tulip Poplar.
All lumber is graded by National Hardwood Grading Rules, sorted by length, thickness, and grade.
